2008 An Anti Incumbent Year?
Author: Independent-voter
12 30th, 2007
This year, once again, there is buzz that 2008 might be an anti-incumbent election that will sweep out sitting House Members of both parties. National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole (Okla.) has been making that case for months, and more than a few journalists and talking heads have picked it up as well.
A little more than a year ago in this space (”An Anti-Incumbent Election? This Year? Of Course Not,” Sept. 14, 2006), I argued that 2006 would be an anti-Republican, not an anti-incumbent, year. I never thought that we’d be hearing the same anti-incumbent argument so soon. more from realclearpolitics.com

Benazir Bhutto Candidate Reactions
Author: Independent-voter
12 27th, 2007Rudy Giuliani, Republican presidential candidate seems to be the first to respond to another crises, the news of Bhutto death by assassination. This will enforce his image as a quick responder when there is a crises. Giuliani recalls Sept. 11 attack, invokes national unity in new ad as has been part of his campaign all along. Now, with the New Hampshire primary less than two weeks away, Giuliani draws attention to that tragedy with a national ad meant to get widespread attention.
We saw Mitt Romney looking very presidential on CNN shortly after Giuliani. This give a little peek at how they come across when there is unexpected news. Anyone heard from the Bush headquarters yet?
Romney and Immigration

Mitt Romney is tough on immigration issues. He opposes Bush’s guest worker plan. Calls for employers to verify workers legal status. Opposes illegals to gain legal status on any fast track. Opposes in state tuition breaks for illegals. As governor in MA, used state police to enforce.
Comment: I think American are tired of this problem and think something should be done about it. This may give Romney more traction in the South and in border states.

Iowa Conservatives Like Huckabee
Author: Independent-voter
12 26th, 2007SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee would seem to be the answer to their prayers, yet for many Christian conservatives in Iowa, he has not closed the deal for the Republican caucuses.
As always, voter uncertainty comes with the Jan. 3 caucuses, now just a week away.
Huckabee, the former Baptist minister, is leading in the Republican polls here, though his advantage has narrowed. Perhaps, that’s due in part to the negative TV commercials Romney is airing.
“I think I’m leaning toward Governor Huckabee,” says Lori Brown, who works at an accounting firm in Sheldon. “I guess I’m not sure who else I really like. But he seems to be just a real guy. I’m a Christian, too, so I see eye-to-eye with him. more…
Comment: Other reports say it is neck to neck with only 8 days remaining in the Iowa show down.
Huckabee

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - Rising Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee risked his standing with Catholic voters on Sunday by courting his evangelical base at the church of a controversial preacher accused of disparaging Catholics.
But the visit to Cornerstone, pastor John Hagee’s imposing “mega-church” in the Texas city of San Antonio, was fraught with political perils for Huckabee given his efforts to woo conservative Catholics.
Huckabee, a folksy former Arkansas governor and former Baptist preacher, has had a meteoric rise in opinion polls in recent weeks, largely because he has connected with the Republican Party’s influential evangelical wing. More….
Dr. Hagee is the author of 10 major books published by Thomas Nelson Publishers. BEGINNING OF THE END was a run-away best-seller on the New York Times Best Seller List
Comment: Huckabee guy gives me a very bad feeling doing this. Alligence to the “evangelical wing”. John Hagee seems very radical. So Huckabee is trying to be the next George Bush. It worked the first time for George Bush, but will it still work. Stay tuned.

Ron Paul Gets Our Vote

I don’t understand why all the establish does not like this guy. Well yes I do too. He doesn’t go along with their way of doing things. He is different. Which is exactly the reason I like him.
I used to listen to Neal Boortz radio show. But since he elects to cut off anyone who is for Ron Paul, I cut Neal Boortz’s web link off our site. He is boring anyway.
It looks like Ron Paul is the most anti incumbent candidate on both the Republican and Democratic sides. Runner up is probably Obama.
